I fully expect the FA to ban zlatan for 3 games

and Ming the merciless will get off because it was Zlatan who head butted his studs Rolling Eyes

Whoa! I don't see it in these apocalyptic terms, at least in the short / medium term. I was as disappointed as anyone walking away yesterday but I still see it as a work in progress rather than a dying red giant. There are problems in defence, midfield and attack but I can forgive Jones and Rojo a shaky resumption of their partnership and Jose for feeling the need to shuffle the pack. I think Shaw and Martial worked well. Anthony may not be Ronaldo or Messi but he is a fine player in the making and his final ball will improve. He was great in the first half and if his pass to Zlatan doesn't come back off the latter's knee we have a reward for that early pressure.

Herrera was missing in midfield and Pogba does better as an attacking midfielder when Ander is patrolling the area between the boxes. Paul is extraordinarily talented for such a big man but he tends to overdo it, no doubt to live up to the price tag and the hype but I wouldn't be so quick to write him off. He let the frustration get to him as did Anthony but in the context of that game with its undertones of simmering violence and a perplexed referee I think you can forgive that. I feel it would have been better if Zlatan had not come out for the second half and the same goes for Rooney for different reasons. The goal scoring remains the fundamental problem and if Z is not on his game we don't presently have anyone with the confidence to step up other than the injured Mkhi.

Top four is difficult now because it will need imho about 32 points out of the remaining 36. We can affect Arsenal, Spurs, City all away and Chelsea at home but not the Dippers. The yEuropa will get progressively tougher and even if one overcomes all the obstacles you can meet a team on form any time, including the final as Klopp learned. Thus CL football is far from guaranteed but it is all to fight for and we have in fairness turned up when the chips are down. Let's see how it goes and not call the glass half empty yet. Some decent recruits in the summer and we will be as competitive as anyone else in this league.

I think the pessimism really arises from the fact that we are unlikely to have another dominant decade or two and that sense of entitlement is unrealistic in the EPL. I think that quite good overall. If I have any sense of the approaching horsemen it is in the longer term prospects for the game. We reached a tipping point I feel in 2008 when City changed the landscape irretrievably. I don't criticise that. I quite understand Nic's view on the previous status quo and why shouldn't someone break the mould? I don't think the game can sustain for long the wages and the transfer fees and I don't think academies with scholarships providing safe havens for talented kids and their folks from around the world will guarantee the replication of CO92 or the Barca crop of a decade later. I feel those things will happen naturally and the big clubs will end up poaching those players as they grow up until that model can no longer sustain itself because the public has fallen out of love with the game. Maybe then we go back to the people's game.

After the dust has settled, it seems most appear to think the Mings stamp was an accident and Zlatan elbow wasn't.

These days, if you do something that risks seriously injuring a player you are sent off. Regardless of whether Mings meant it, which I think most of us on here do, it was a dangerous action.

The Zlatan elbow, after what come before I don't think anyone would blame him. It's wrong, but I think most of us would probably have reacted in the same way... we are all human after all... the problem I have though, Mings' elbow is also up. IMO both players are looking for the elbow. It just happened that Zlatan was bigger, stronger and as a result, made more contact.

I'm biased as fuck here, cards on the "stating the bleeding obvious" table, but you could argue that Mings was the more deliberate act, he looked and his foot came down unnaturally. Why anyone is making excuses for it I'll never know.

Zlatan jumped virtually straight up, with his arms in a position you'd expect them to be, Mings jumps toward Zlatan and its face-to-elbow rather than elbow-to-face. I have no doubt Zlatan left one on him, he deserved it, but of the two I know which I thought was the most cowardly.

Seems the FA think if Mings is guilty then he's the bigger case to answer, I'd agree. Had the ref dealt with it then he wouldn't have been on the pitch & Zlatan could have carried on missing sitters.

Fuck it. I'm glad Zlatan did it. I wouldn't take it back and my only mild regret is that Zlatan didn't give the prick a kick in the skull on his way down.

considering Rooney got banned for saying "fuck off " to a tv camera

Evra got banned for arguing with a grounds man , an hour after a game

and

rio got banned for NOT taking a drug test

I expect Ibra to be hauled to the tower and hung by the neck till dead .
