I think, even though Ibra is likely to sign an extension, we really should buy a proven goal-scorer in his mid-20's. The number of home draws this season is unacceptable by any so-called big teams standards.

I am not convinced Martial and Rashford will be scoring 20+ goals a season anytime soon. I also would not be surprised if Martial was either put on loan (not to the Championship) or sold on for a huge loss. That could be the mind-set of Jose. He doesn't have patience. Rashford's place is safe and he will probably continue to be a regular off the bench next season - or a permanent starter on the left.. I'm not so sure Jose sees Rashford as a lone forward for United for the next 15 years.

Who could we get? I know Lukaku will be available for a mere £50 million. How about Aubameyang? Maybe Lacazette? Personally I'd go for Mauro Icardi of Inter.

Thoughts? Or should we rely on Ibra for another season who has still proven that he can net 20+ at the highest level.

I'd rather play Joe Jordan up front than Lukaku, for me he is the laziest player ive ever seen, quite how he is being rated as a £50 million player is beyond me.
I would like to see a sanchez / suarez/ aguero type player,
I love Zlatan as a man, and his goals have been our saving this season, but sometimes we look like a team that darednt not give him the ball, and we look like we have to rely on him, last night he gave the ball away a lot, and yet it's as if he was above reproach.
hopefully the lessons Rashford and Martial etc will learn off him will be immense , but we will not challenge without a fresh striker, we currently have the oldest and the youngest , we need the proven player that fits in between those two.
possibly Greizman could fill a role playing off a main striker.
for me this one striker doesn't work, we score too few goals for it to be considered the way forward.

maybe i'm just old fashioned....

Although I'd agree, we need a new striker, I think our problems in front of goal are mainly due to bad luck. Even Zlatan has missed some sitters. Our confidence in front of goal is low and we are often snatching at chances as a result. The fact we are not as attacking as we should be adds to the problem.

To here some people talk you'd think we'd have no chance of top four. The fact is, just 6 more goals would see us challenging for the title right now. We don't always play entertaining or attractive football but we're not far away.

I think we need to let Zlatan go on his way to LA Galaxy.

For me we play like we did when Ruud was with us, who is without any doubt in my mind the best striker we've had in my 40 years of watching United, but with everything going through/to him I think others will never get the chance to shine. Rashford and Martial have both been played out of position to make way, and in a free flowing way of playing I'd have liked to see them play more in the strikers roles.

Zlatan is awesome, as was Ruud, but our way of playing everything through/to him may be holding us back, I may be completely wrong of course, and the performances of both Martial and Rashford have been sporadic, but it's a bit of 2nd season syndrome and being played out of position for me, rather than anything terminal.

I'd like us to sign another 2 strikers to support Martial and Rashford, and play Martial and Rashford through the middle, plus a striker that can come off the bench and change a game, there must be another OGS out there.

Chubby, you certainly have a point.

It was scoffed at by many on here when I said Martial and rashford would be sacrificed for Zlatan and I wasn't wrong, although I'd admit I didn't quite expect him to have the impact he has (and if we are honest, I don't think any of us did).

The comparison to Ruud is a great one. Ruud was excellent, but the minute he left a young attacker stepped up and become the best player in the world.
