Team tonight

Romero
Damian Smalling Jones Blind
Carrick Fellaini
Mhky Mata Lingard
Rooney

That should be enough to get at least a draw (good result at this stage in europe) leaving...
DDG
Valencia Bailey Smalling Young
Pogba Herrera
Martial Lingard Rashford
Rooney

....for Sunday. If we go for their throat we should get a result...

The only players playing in both games should be fresh enough to cope

If Bailley is fit, then I'm quite happy for Jones and Smalling to fucking rot. Pair of useless clowns.

a good all round European away performance, an extra goal would have been nice, and given our chances possibly deserved.

our home form this season has been a worry , but as they didn't score , even if we only draw it should still be enough.

overall we cant complain.

Good result, but poor finishing leaves United with more to do at home. What on earth is happening with United players that they just cannot score in front of goal? Awful finishing last night.

To be fair their keeper did have a cracking game, although I agree our finishing at times was poor, which has been the story of our season.

Solid performance. Expected it to be harder than that to be honest. Poor finishing wasn't really an issue imo. The goalkeeper is there to make things difficult, and he did.

Do we play the kids?? Personally I hope not. We have enough of a squad to get a result. They summed it up on BT sport last night, we have lots of very good players and don't really miss anybody when they are out, nobody really stands out. Our problem is we don't have players to take up to the next level.

Having said that, if Jose rests a few I won't complain. We are effectively 1 win from a trophy and CL football, where as top four will be very tough. We'd have to win all our games, including going to spuds for their last game at WHL, so they'll be well up for that.. it's a tough ask, not impossible, but it's far harder than the alternative and we have to rely on other teams fucking up.... it just won't happen

No really poor finishing this time. Maybe Jesse's second chance would have been easier to the keeper's right but it depends on his position and body shape at the precise moment. Good keeping and the rub of the green otherwise.

I still think it would be dangerous to put all eggs in one basket with a squad like ours. Let's face it, even with our nothing special team we should be at least third comfortably, so I can't see the point of trying any the less. Just judicious rotation I think. No harm in giving Axel a run at some point. Is TF-M ruled out now? The reserves don't have a striker so no help there if Marcus is injured. I don't think there is anyone else to come in.

Sunday's team selection could well be influenced by City's result against Palace on Saturday, though I don't think Jose will be keen to give Wenger an easy ride.

given that City just thrashed palace 5.0, I imagine Jose will go to arsenal, pack the defence. leave Martial up front on his own and play for a 0-0 with the hope of nicking one.

it wont be pretty and depending which Arsenal side turns up will probably end up as a narrow defeat.
the basket our eggs are in is now Europa league , plain and simple

any chance we had of top 4 was spunked away v Everton , and Swansea and WBA , those 3 draws at that stage of the season pretty much fucked us.....

That last post rendered the "what can happen" thread irrelevant in advance.

This is not going to be a walk in the park on Thursday. The worry is we may need to score two goals. We saw last season how the Scousers thought their name was on it and came right royally unstuck. We have put ourselves in a very difficult position with our non-scoring league form and it is going to need a big effort from the team and the fans to get over the line.

I have more confidence in nil-nil than us scoring 2 goals.
