The Barca game was alright as well...

I didn't watch it as I rely on my sisters bt log in for bt sport stream and couldn't be bothered to set it up.

On the subject of BT sport, they've won the uefa rights for the next few seasons, and are raising the price as well as charging BT BB customers for the sport channels. It's unlikely Sky are going to reduce their prices to compensate for not having the game's and will fob us off with more MLS and Chinese 'super' league games Evil or Very Mad .

Soon Sky and BT subscription will be more expensive than a season ticket.

The amount of empty blue seats at the game, kin ell, they really are an absolute sham

I would say they were all off watching the Barca game but sure they all don't care for the Uefa Champions League do they??!

Barcelona's incredible victory was spoilt by Suarez's dive to get the penalty - after just being booked for a dive !

I just don't like Barca, not at all, not one jot. The fact they have the bitey racist just adds further disdain from me. You would have thought they invented football the way the media go on, but their possession football leaves me cold,

Well, yesterday's offering gave us little shout about. It was horrible. I hate playing teams like that. Constant fouls, dives and faking injury to waste time and slow play down. You also have the failure to maintain their pitch. And we have to travel 4000 miles round trip for the privilege. Tbh, looking at the pitch, I'm just pleased we got through with an away goal and no apparent injuries.

This is supposed to be one of footballs top competitions. People argue for more inclusion for these teams, as the money raised will help them build etc. Not fpr me, if that is the outcome. I've seen lower league teams play us in the FA Cup with a more exciting approach.

SR , I sort of agree with every word
but ...

the other side of the coin perhaps,

it's about experience, and spreading the game, and seeing different counties and people.
yes the pitch was shite
yes they were scrappy and poor
yes it was fucking cold

but , not every game is played at the top level , and sometimes top level teams have to play at the lower level, it's not always enjoyable but surely it's part of the game
take that away and all you have is "Hollywood "style glamour games on superb pitches, in basking sunshine for the mass hordes of plastic fans.. it'll be like "hunger games " ....

I would guess every fan there last night knew the score, and what to expect,
I watched it knowing exactly what it would it be like before I switched it on.

take the Rostovs etc out of the contests and you have your "elite" super league , playing each other 4 times a season,

my mate sponsors Guiseley and I go there quite a bit, it's another world mate, but when your there it's just as much fun, if not more so, and surely that's what the games about Wink

All true, John. But surely there has to be a minimum standard for playing surfaces. "Hi lads, this is UEFA. Now that you're in the Europa League, any chance you could get a decent pitch, flat-ish with some grass?"
Russia is supposed to be hosting a World Cup next year. Are all the pitches going to be like this?

I wouldn't argue against any of that. But, as Hawkeye says, this is a country about to host a world cup. Russian clubs have been in and around the top competitions for years now. Why, after all these years are they not competing at a higher level? I'd argue a big reason is because they are encouraged to play like that. Like underdogs who have to resort to underhand tactics to get a result.

If this was an FA Cup game against non league opposition you should expect it. Are we saying this Rostov is on a par with them? This team qualified for the CL, the most prestigious club tournament there is. Surely a small degree of footballing ability is the minium requirement? And when so many teams, who would offer so much more to the tournament, don't qualify it makes it that much worse.

It does show just how much football has changed, 20 years ago the OT pitch was no better than that, in fact is was probably much worse.

It was a good result away from home, a score draw. Means we don't have to be too cautious at OT next week. We should beat them at OT, but this is football and they may be a much better team on our pitch.

Just pleased there was no serious injuries. I would imagine they have more dislocated shoulders in the Russian league than most others.

from the little I know of Russia , or the Russians ive met .I would say every single thing Russian related is about 20 years behind
except

Computer hacking =they appear to be good at that
killing people = they appear to be very good at that
or Mens hair cuts= which are actually more like 87 years behind, Wink

Its because they're a bunch of snide cunts. The media wank themselves off to oblivion at the thoughts of Barca winning everything and yet somehow overlook their diving and cheating - because of "nice guys" like Messi and Iniesta, overlooking the likes of Suarez and Busquets.

I prefer Madrid, because although they are cheating bastards too, they don't tend to hide it. Plus they have Ronnie in their team.

Iniesta isn't about waving imaginary cards too by the way. Hate that.
