So Jose wouldn't have sold them.

I wonder who the players are that he wouldn't have bought?

For the record I still think we were right to sell Welbeck, I think he was suffering from stage fright at United. He couldn't believe he was playing alongside his idols.

He needed to move to find himself.

I wouldn't have sold Welbeck but wasn't shocked we did. Hernandez had lost his scoring touch and certainly wasn't going to rediscover it under van Gaal. And he had no idea where to play Di Maria so for that reason it's understandable why he sold him too (why he bought him in the first place then is another question).

I presume the players Mourinho wouldn't have bought were the likes of Schneiderlin, Depay, Schweinsteiger, etc. I'd add Luke Shaw to that, but wasn't he after him at Chelsea?

I think everyone was after Luke Shaw at the time. He was at that point in time the most promising young left back in Europe.

We weren't to know that as soon as he was bought he'd eat half his own body weight in pizza every day and waste his time playing X-Box with his stoner mates.

Depay has shown for Lyon that there may be at least one swallow in his sky. I really don't know what happened there but it sounds similar to Shaw.

Di Maria I would have welcomed keeping. Hernandez didn't show enough under SAF really and he became a bit part player at Madrid with a late flourish.

I can see that Jose would have liked Danny's natural high pressing style but one cannot escape the reality that he was even at his best an 8 out of 10 player and generally he fell below that. It's hard to let your own go but they have to fledge.

Agreed regarding Welbeck
Di Maria simply didn't want be in Manchester after the attempted break in that scared his wife shitless
Chico didn't get enough opportunities under SAF to prove himself
Been in or around top goal scorer at Leverkusen since he went there?

Wellbeck is Emile Heskey 2.0 - fulfils the same role and unsettles defenders, trouble is as a striker he doesn't unsettle enough GKs.

Di Maria, can't blame him for wanting away from LvG. It must have been infuriating to have to follow that regime as a creative player. I think that had Di Maria been signed by Jose, he'd have still been here and we'd be seeing the best of him. I think the burglary was a very convenient excuse to press the escape button.

Hernandez, lovely man, smashing little player but as mentioned he'd lost his way with us, no other option but to let him go. If Jose likes him so much then let's show him some love and get him back. He would not cost the earth and he'd get lots of goals in this team

I said at the time arsenal stole welbeck from us. I was wrong. Being a product of the academy I was gutted he left for a rival and thought he'd fit in really well. But the reality is he's done fuck all.

Apart from him, I would have been more than happy to see Hernandez and ADM stay. Under a different manager they would have thrived imo.
