Fellaini in the starting 11, FFS!

I've never liked him, it was a mistake to buy him and we know we paid too much, just part of the appalling transfer business that we've carried out over the last 5 years.

It's always a negative tactic and it always isolates the striker. I'll be delighted when he leaves in the summer.

He's not to blame for tonight though of course he is involved, the manager got it wrong, the players were awful and we've been here before, again and again for the last 5 years.

For me the whole footballing side of the club needs a complete rethink.

A Director of Football to dictate the route the club goes tactically and technically

A head of talent acquisition to over see the entire scouting and recruitment process

A young, energetic 1st team coach that will shout, kick water bottles, throw stuff at players, be rude to reporters and generally ensure that we will never, ever be found wanting for effort and endeavour.

A goodbye to all those that have lived off reputations, out stayed their welcome and generally lined their pockets over the last 5 years.

It's not knee jerk, we've seen this hopeless shite so many times in the last 5 years. It's time the club acted.

Utter shit.

Can anybody explain to me what the game plan was...because I just couldn't make head nor tail of what I was seeing?

I give up...but I'm not even surprised.

Due to work I missed most of the match, I got connected just in time to see their first goal. Awful.

The football we play isn't worth watching.

1999 - thoughts?

Genuinely want your opinion on that performance as I know you’re pro-Mourinho and tend to defend him and his tactical ways.

There is no defence. Very poor team selection and tactics tonight. I don't understand why Jose won't let this team boss games, as they are certainly good enough to. He is happy to let other teams have the ball and control the game, which invites pressure on our defence. We have a brilliant squad of players and it is his responsibility to make them play as a team. And also, to say in your press conference that it is nothing unusual for us to go out of the CL at this stage, wtf? I do question his thinking at the moment, especially regarding his spat with F De Boer.

I'll try to think of something positive and report back.

I may be some time.

Fuck all this team selection bollocks. That team should've been good enough to get the result.

I know Jose will be criticised for tactics, and rightly so, Jose doesn't take away the players ability to play a simple pass. He doesn't make the strong, confident, aggressive players we saw Saturday turn into weak, soft players looking for somewhere to hide.

The style of play is grinding away at me now. Last night we needed to go for it. We needed a 2-0 lead, just in case they nicked a goal. If we'd got that and sat back I would be more accepting of the tactics, but to play the game like we had that lead.

As for individuals, I know many are criticising Fellaini. I thought he done ok. Certainly not the worst player on the pitch. Better than Pogba, who can go in the summer as far as I'm concerned. He was the worst player on that pitch last night and im embarrassed we paid so much for him.

Sanchez, work rate great, but so would mine be if I was playing for United. So far signing him has been a disaster. Upset the balance of the team.

Rashford, should've been on the left. Nft. Lingard, forgot he played....

You can get away with one or too having an off game now and then, but nobody really turned up.

It’s starting to get disingenuous to keep singling out players.

Every single player was off form last night maybe bar Lukaku and Bailly. Young too. I mean collectively they were putting simple 10-15 yard balls into touch.

Pogba isn’t playing well but he’s shown he can. Fellaini is so limited but has shown he can do a specific holding/defensive job (ref Park). Sánchez is a great player but this collective loss of form can only happen when there is something deeper involved.

Look at Arsenal - they have good players but collectively they’ve stopped playing for the manager and it’s toxic there.

We’re them, just 4 places higher in the table.

You simply can’t come out of every game with 4, 5, 6 players off their game and believe all those players aren’t good enough.

Think of the Fergie team circa 2011-2013. Nani, Anderson etc. That was a limited team but Nani on one wing, Welbeck the other feeding a fading Rooney would have sailed through last night. You cannot say Nani/Anderson/Welbeck/Rooney/Fletcher was a better side than Lukaku/Alexis/Rashford/Matic/Lingard.

This rot is deeper. It’s structural through the club, and functional in terms of training and tactics. Our manager and his ideas have been fundamentally left behind.

Everyone after Saturday was praising his ‘specific tactical plan’. We didn’t play well. We hit 2 goals on the counter and then stopped. Second half we were one Smalling mistake away from a draw. We were lucky. Rafa Benitez is great at ‘specific tactical plans’ but he’s still a defensive, negative manager.

We need fresh ideas. Jose has steadied the Moyes/Van Gaal ship. And he deserves thanks for that. But we’ve got to be brave and identify the young, hungry blood that will turn this oil tanker around.

It’ll probably have to be a leftfield appointment and there’ll be a learning curve but a few bad results can be forgiven if there’s a general feeling that the club is moving in the right direction. In that context a bad result or performance is a step back from 2 forward.

At the moment, every bad result is 2 steps back from 1 forward.

the sentiments being echoed here are unpleasant reading, but sadly they're all true and really quite predictable
and there what myself and many have been un afraid to say for months now.

many are happy to paper over cracks and look at the league table and the fact we beat vermin and chelsea and arsenal and say
"we're progressing, it's improving"

i'll tell you again boys, it's not. it's getting worse.

we have a manager who is using the same tactics he did at chelsea 8 years ago, the game has moved on since then and he has stood still ,, and he has spent a fortune to turn us into a side bereft of flair and the ability to play simple passing football.
over 2 legs against a side who can't score he played defensively in both legs , that should be a fucking crime against humanity ..........everything else is now a days...

i don't come on here to moan or whine and i aint fucking spoilt , i have enough shite in my life ,but to simply ignore what we see many times over is wrong, all i want is the team i fucking love to give me pleasure , and aside from the odd big game the pleasure is few and far between.

The longer it went you could just see it happening, I’m so fucked off with the way we approached the game.

European nights at OT we went for the jugular last night we just seemed bereft of ideas.

Fullbacks hardly crossed the halfway line

And Pogba FFS 90 million and can’t pass a ball

Fucked right off at present

Given the inexplicable changes the manager made, given the bizarre tactics the manager chose and given the frankly rude and insulting comments the manager has made this morning does anyone else think (like I do) that there is some football politics going on here?

Dropping McTominay after the excellent display in protecting the back four that he and Matic showed against the vermin. Selecting Fellaini in fuck knows what role, isolating Lukaku, switching Rashford to a different wing......

Added to the comments coming out about how he'd done the same to United twice before and it was no surprise to see United go out at this stage.......

I think this is José's way of trying to lever yet more money out of the board, proving some behind closed door conversations where he's been telling them we aren't good enough and he needs another £250m to get us to the semi-final and challenge in the league.

it just seems so odd that coming off the back of the Palace game (a last minute blockbuster winner always does wonders for the morale and spirit) and then a good win at home against them and then we turn out this dire, insipid shite?
