Horrible news!

It goes without saying I hope he pulls through. I will be pointing at my watch screaming for more time.

According to the Guardian, the surgery went very well but he's inintensive care for the recovery.

Praying for him.

That is awful news. I feel he has had long term blood pressure problems and have been quite concerned about some recent pictures. It is great to hear the op was a success as the recovery from bleed strokes as opposed to the more common ischemic ones can very much depend on timing.

Come on, Fergie.

He's fought tougher battles.

Too young to go, much needed around the club still, as much as his family and friends.

It's hard to put in to words but it feels like one your own family fighting for his life. He's been a part of my life since my 20s and I'm now approaching my 60s. Some of the most emotional moments of my life and the highest peaks of elation have been thanks to him. We had dreams. He made them come true.

He's no ordinary football manager, no ordinary man. But the realisation that he is mortal and that one day he won't be with us any more is gut-wrenching in a way that a stranger's fate should not affect me. Fuck.

C'mon Sir Alex, get through this.

This ultimate fight you can win Sir Alex.

The gratitude we have for you is immeasurable. You dispelled the gloom of the 70s and 80s and brought success in the 90s and 00s beyond our wildest dreams.

You can't go anywhere yet, we still need you.

The family asked for privacy
Monday morning and Sky Sports are camped outside the hospital.

I feel like dropping down with a couple mates and putting a couple journalist's closer to SAF than they like Twisted Evil

That would be quite reasonable behavior.

Wakes up and first thing he asks is how his son's team got on. What a man. We'll never see his likes again.

Fingers crossed he's on the road to a full recovery now
