No...not the red, the Brazil midfield guy.

Reports today are that we've signed him for €50m E

Never seen him play, know nothing about him other than what I can find on the internet so I'm going to slag him off anyway! Laughing

Plays in a mickey mouse league (they have finished 1st or 2nd every year since 1996 & reached their domestic cup final 17 times in the same period), he's short and he doesn't score very often. How good can he possibly be?

Based on those stats alone he seems like an expensive Liam Miller.

In all seriousness anyone know anything about him, actually seen him play, rate him? I don't think we always need to break the bank to improve so if he brings something we need then that's great but I would have preferred Saul.

A poor man's Jorginho is what I heard Wink

He played against us twice last year, he's a very good player. Central, holding player in the mould of Fernandinho.

He's expected to start for Brazil this summer, and brings a more intelligent defensive midfield game than we get from Pogba or Herrera. He reads the game well, can get stuck in, and has very good vision for forward passes. I suspect we'll partner him with Matic to free up Pogba on the attack.

One suspects he is referring to this, don't pretend you're too young to remember.

He has played for;
Atletico Mineiro
Porto Alegre
Intenacional
Shaktar
134 Appearances 17 goals
So he would appear very average

7 Times for Brazil but this in this years World Cup Quals hasn't played a minute. Then again he is up against Willian,Costa, Paulinho, Casemiro, Coutinho.
My cynicism made me think that he had been recommended by Mendes as a nice little earner but he is not on his books.
So fucks knows who scouted him and believes that he should be wearing a a United Jersey Rolling Eyes

One huge issue I have with your assessment.. ..

Your judging a defensive midfield player by the amount of goals scored.

I wasn't judging him on his goals per game I was stating stats.
What I would say in judgement he is not good enough to get into Brazil's midfield and his current and former clubs would struggle in the Championship, maybe not Shakhtar but they would be a relegation bet in our Premiership.
So that suggests, IMO, that he is average or the find of the century

Then again if it's in our newspapers he has probably already signed for us Rolling Eyes

Correct me if I am wrong, but the players you've listed are all attacking and Fred is defensive. It appeared your comparing him to this type of player?

I'd agree, his former clubs don't suggest he's a world beater, but we signed one of Real Madrid's best player a few years ago (ADM) and he done fuck all. We've also signed many big names in recent years, spending loads in the process. I'm hoping that this is an example of signing someone after a long period of scouting. Jose/our scouts may have seen something in this lad that others may have missed. Or, that he has an attribute that will unlock something in his potential new teammates.
