Says it all.

Don't expect too much this season, the manager is already writing us off.

Some might say it's 'mind games' putting pressure on those spending big money but lets be honest, we've spent more since SAF left than we have in the rest of the entire history of the club.

It's clearly a cry for more funds.

All is not well, owners, directors, manager, scouting, recruitment and at least half the playing staff.

Are you referring to this Zoo?

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/11445998/jose-mourinho-admits-man-utd-are-not-a-team-after-tour-draw

I think you're missing the context in which these comments were made. He wasn't talking about anything other than the squad at his disposal for the last two games, which is depleted by WC players still being on holiday.

I may be missing something, apologies if this is the case.

Interesting how different articles have different versions. Yes to the first half of that but the article I saw on line kept it to just from different teams and went on to talk about Martial being in San Jose but wanting to be somewhere else and that the players he wanted were not necessarily the players he could get.

I agree the article you have posted puts it in less doom-monger terms.

I'd just like him to shut the f*ck up and get on with it.

What I'd be questioning is the point of these pre-season tours when half your first team are missing.

A tour every now and then is fine, but I'd rather the players be at the training ground rather than a money spinning tour of the US. What do you gain by dragging a patchwork squad halfway around the world?

And if we have to tour, go around Europe. Have a game against Madrid at Wembley, travel to Barca for a game against Bayern and throw in the odd game against lower league opposition and throw youngsters in. It's all bollocks!

It's all about being a global brand. You don't get noodle sponsors around the world by staying in your own back yard.

When you are trying to make sense of something, always follow the money. Always.

I am not sure when the market became the message but it is the reality of the world we live in now. City's global domination plans are based on having a "shop" in every significant football country and that is one step further on from this now traditional "showing the flag" approach.

As far as the team goes I think it probably best to pay as little attention as possible to anything said in the media. It is premature to even think about how we will perform before we get our international players back and see who we keep and who else we get in the transfer window.

Even if there is no movement either way then I don't think Jose can really argue that this season has to see a marked improvement in performance and if it doesn't the buck stops with him. We all have our different views about central defenders, Luke Shaw etc. but I think we have good enough defenders even now for a title challenge.

No one can really argue that if he can't make a silk purse out of Fred, Matic, Pogba in midfield and any three of Sanchez, Luka, Jesse, Marcus, Martial, Mata up front it will be time to hand over the reins.

I think the back-up in all departments is pretty good too for all but the inevitable counsels of perfection.

Jose's moaning again today that he "is not happy" with pre-season .. and I'm done with it.

Firstly, we are in the same boat as every other 'top four' club around the country. It's a world cup year. It should be planned for.

Secondly, although I understand his frustrations he could put a positive spin on it. He could easily say something along the lines of "This is what happens when you have world class players in your squad. It gives other players, especially the youngsters, the chance to show me what they can do".

The excuses are in. I fear its going to be the same story all season.

I'll keep moaning until I have a reason to stop.

There is no point in speculating. Nothing he is saying is unfair. His attitude is largely dictated by the bunch of hyenas in front of him and by club politics, which appears to have imposed an obligation not to be drawn into a discussion about the new season.

You just have to think about what the press pack did to Pep two seasons ago and wonder how he overcame all that so triumphantly. He had never been through that before.

It's a mammoth task Jose has on his hands. History - the club's and his own - are weighing heavily on him and this is a make or break season. Everyone is willing him to fail, not least on here, and the season after a major international competition is not the best proving ground. He probably knows himself he can't afford to fail but no matter what confidence you have in your own ability something will shake it to the core. That's where he is. He has been somewhere close before but not this close.

Its depressing watching him suck the joy out of following United. Part of me hopes he ends up a massive success and is in charge for the next decade but I certainly wont be putting any money on that. If I had to put any money on it I'd say he'll be walking by Xmas with his usual pay-off.

Already making excuses for Leicester at home and Bournemouth away, its Moyes-esque!

Fair enough if its to get more funds to buy players but I cant get enthused at the prospect of him signing a winger and transforming him into a full-back. Or signing Lindelof & Bailly... then playing Smalling & Jones in a cup final.

Least if/when we get knocked out of Europe we can listen to him talk about how its normal and that he managed sides that knocked us out twice before.
