If we lose today, I do not know how Jose will not walk or get the sack.

Unthinkable to lose 3/4 first PL games of the season.

Especially as Burnley have had a crap start themselves and have just been knocked out of Europa.

I think we will lose this one - 2-1.

They are always up for our visit and find 2 or 3 extra gears, but we should win it if we show the same desire and tempo as the 1st half against Spurs.

If we lose then I am going off-grid until we next play, the media circus will be in overdrive.

I can’t see him lasting much past November and his charm offensive with the fans is designed to paint him as the victim, which to a certain extent he is, as he’s a victim of the chaos above him.

Well win today. Won't be pretty, but we'll win.

Jose is losing the plot imo. He is far too busy picking fights with everyone. All this "respect" bollocks, and the other shite is embarrassing. Yes, the media are givi g him a hard time, but he's manager of Manchester United. When high standards are not met you will be hammered by the press.

It's close to the point of no return for me. We know there are issues with the owners/Ed but that's no excuse for how he is conducting himself. It's currently win, win for Jose. If he succeeds it's proof he is "special", winning games inspite of the owners/Ed. If we lose its 'coz poor little Jose wasn't backed by the board.

Great.

Now, can we string a bunch of these together? Otherwise, all these nice feelings and United’s positive “#MondayMorivation” on Instagram mean nothing.

Isn't it a shame that yesterday's good win/performance is damaged by the doom and gloom surrounding the club at the moment. Ultimately that win means nothing unless we do it consistently.

These international breaks always seem to come at the wrong time for us, although I'm interested to see how the new nations league plays out.

A very muted response on this board to a good performance compared with the outrage about both Brighton (which was bad) and Spurs (which wasn't).

The away crowd (which was generally shell-shocked at Brighton) was noticeably supportive of both the manager and the team at Burnley and the home crowd (or such as remained) was the same at the Spurs match.

This may be because the manager has at last got the message and found a way of playing which can be successful and entertaining and also because many among us think he has been unfairly selected for some pretty hostile abuse from the fourth estate.

Time to circle the wagons?

Muted?

Are we supposed to be excited about beating Burnley then? It's muted because 2-0 against a very average mid-table side is what any self-respecting title challengers would expect surely?

We can rightly be furious about the Brighton performance, it was appalling and we'll have to agree to disagree on the Spurs game, I fail to see how losing 3-0 at home to a title rival (that finished below us last season and has not spent a single penny improving their squad this season) is anything other than a really poor result and the 2nd half performance was weak and confused.

We can circle the wagons, pull up the drawbridge and call out the guard if you want but there's no escaping that the summer was disappointing and the start to the season has been disappointing so if we fail to have a parade, street party and carnival simply because we beat Burnley then feel free to describe that as muted.

Hmm. I agree the Spurs result was bad but not so much the performance. The performance against Burnley was better than 2-0.

No, I don't expect celebrations at beating anyone, to be frank, not even Real Madrid or Barcelona, but I do expect an end to the perpetually negative hyperbole when a game goes something like it should, i.e not at all in keeping with the current doomsday, Jose-out agenda.

He may yet succeed. Wow!

i'm not wanting to wade into an argument here, but Burnley were absolutely fucking shocking, and to be honest we should perhaps be a tad embarrased that we only scored 2.

pogba's penalty was like a fucking 11 year old.

let's agree, that we all prefer to see utd win, and most i know want to see us win with style.

if .....and it's a big if.. we push on and win our next 6 games, score plenty and concede very few, then maybe ( and it's a small maybe) then maybe we can start to look back on the brighton and spurs games as blips.

but given the last 8 months progression has been so non existent , i do not for one second expect us to win our next 6 games , and i believe we may well see the Brighton display recreated at a stadium near you very soon.

all we can do is wait and see Confused

We're not as good as the board (MU board, not this board) thinks we are, we are not as bad as the media and, on occasion, this board and some of it's members portray.

We should have put 5 past Burnley and on another day we would have, but it has been encouraging to see the first half performance against Spurs and followed up by the Burnley performance.

I'm happy to lose football matches when we at least give it a go, that's why Brighton was so annoying, no heart, no effort, no energy.

We now need more the same, time will tell if that's possible.

...and the award for packing in the greatest number of cliches into a single paragraph goes to Zoolander. Excellent stuff Zoo. Cap doffed. That paragraph is a work of art 😉 (and I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments therein).
